Waste consists of material left over after products have been made by producers and after they have been used by consumers.
Waste left over from the process of production contains many materials, some of which (such as chemicals) are quite hazardous in the environment and to the health of humans as well as plants and animals.
Common waste in domestic garbage includes: cans, bottles, cardboard and paper, plastic, and rotting organic material. Now days it is very important for all hoteliers to know the importance of waste collection so that they can dispose it in a proper manner to protect surrounding ambience & environment. To make them aware about the importance all most all Hotel management course in Delhi include this special chapters in their curriculum to update the knowledge of future hotelier.
According to WHO a waste is unwanted materials or substances which are of no longer use.
There are different types of waste which are given below-
1)Recyclable waste
2)Non recyclable waste
3)Food waste
Now let’s talk about them briefly,
1) Recyclable wastes are those type of waste which can be recycled or reused again for example-paper, aluminium, glass etc.
2) Non recyclable – It is a kind of waste which cannot be used as it may cause many damages to nature & environment for example PVC, plastics etc.
3) Food Waste – Left over, discarded, over cooked foods & food particles are known as food waste. Food is perishable item so it should not be mixed with any other waste, this may create problems for waste collectors.
Apart from this there are some more common waste which also creates major issue for a waste collectors like –
Chemical waste – Mostly obtained from any chemical agents which can be inflammable or toxic.
Sharp litter
Metal glass particles or other sharp surfaces can prove to be hazardous to be collected, therefore they should not be handled with bare hand, while collecting these types of articles one should wear proper PPE.
Waste Disposal– Waste acts as breeding ground for a variety of pests. Those waste which are generated from the hotels should be disposed of in closed bins, which should be emptied frequently into the main waste collection area outside the premises. A recent trend in waste management is the recycling of organic wastes, using biogas plants & in case of liquid waste, sewage system plant is a good example of proper waste management. Biogas plants generate a considerable amounts of fuel for hotel, where as clean water obtained from sewage treatment plant is used for washing & gardening purposes.
But some types of wastes generated in hotels require careful & more specific disposal, for that particular reason now a day’s all hotel management colleges in Delhi which runs different Hotel management course make their students aware about the waste & proper disposal of it, among all hotel management colleges in delhi The Hotel school is one of the best options for students which provides all information about waste & waste collection.
The contents of ashtrays can be fire hazard & should be disposed separately. Aerosol & spray bottle should be disposed carefully may explode if exposed to fire. In many countries, it is mandatory to separate different types of waste according to their sources & nature-such as plastic, glass, perishable items before disposal into colour coded container. This system of waste disposal is being followed in some major cities in India now and the students at The Hotel school are thoroughly trained on the waste management.
Understand the changing marketplace
Management of The Hotel School believes that success comes from constant professional development, so the faculty continuously educates students by providing information on hotels on regular basis. Set goals for students
It is important to set goal for student. Because a goal is an idea of the future or desired result that a person envisions, plans and commits to achieve and it is the most easiest way to reach goals within a finite time by setting deadlines. So teachers work on it every time for the success of students.

Another most important element is the “open communication”. So The Hotel Management Institutes in Delhi focus on motivating the students to do the open communications. Lecturers try to “Always share information in team and analyse the team efforts.” It is vital that everyone knows and understands the vision of the organisation and should be aware and involved in achieving own and team goals.
Help people to feel valued
Teachers appreciate students for even small accomplishments because The Hotel management institutes in Delhi and especially The Hotel School believes that “People work better if they feel valued. Practice fairness at all times, foster good working relationships, not only within the team, but with different departments as well.”
Finally the two final pieces of advice given by The Hotel School to its students.
1. “When things get tough at school, always ask yourself, “Why are you here in the first place?”
2. Never forget about your dream and enjoy the process of achieving it.”
